@ankitpasi1 seconded. already sold on this, just need to save up the difference. beats the mbp in every way but case material and thickness. as a dev who does all his work in vm’s I just can’t stuff enough memory into the pro :<

I would’ve bought this instead of my macbook pro if it was released just a month before its actual release date. This thing looks so cool.

@ThatWasPrettyFunny Older ones were better of course. I would suggest just getting a high spec W700 or a W510 if you want to be up to date on CPU tech, but any of the Intel family quads can run anything pretty much, even a Q9000.

Looks like the new Thinkpads have gone back to basics for design… good to hear. I got a refurb W700 ($1200 for mid range specs) just a year ago.

Lenovo really needs to redesign the ThinkPads, it looks so old… I would suggest some gray colors.
Also the screen seems to have a bad refresh rate… it might be just me tho…

Wouldn’t this be a portable laptop with its 6 hours of battery life and it is about the size of a t-series

Seriously wanting one of these for music production. Graphics are irrelevant and with good headphones so are speakers… Someone mentioned the handling of the machine in the vid, the build is supposed to be pretty solid. its not a crystal vase, its a laptop, a tool. Ornaments are a different category lol

Is there a specific reason the T420 doesn’t have an i7 option? I wanted to get a 14″ T420, but I couldn’t get it with an i7, so now I’m considering this one. This is much bigger than I would have liked though. Is there a 14″ model of this?

While I understand it’s a workstation, I’d like to see a better graphics card for gaming. Really, the Ideapad line has awful design, LCD screen quality / resolution, and battery life. The Thinkpad series is perfect for a prosumer line, except for the video card.

Whoever is handling the laptop is treating it as if it’s a plate on a table. Banging & clanking. Not how you handle a prestigious Workstation

Any options for another battery in the optical bay? It was one of the best features of my T22.
