2GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-6400 memory module CT1146002 * Module Size: 2GB * Package: 200-pin SODIMM * Feature: DDR2 PC2-6400 * Specs: DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64 Just go to crucial.com and look for their memory selection tool, enter your computer model and it will give you the right memory specs. I used a 800Mhz module. Sure the netbook is much faster now. picture editing with Adobe Lightroom is a breeze. No need to talk about MS Office… smooth. Internet browsing was greatly improved as well. But that depends on you ISP and you network config. (follow basic steps when doing the upgrade… shut down the computer, take the battery out, hold the power button for about 30 secs, remove static electricity by touching a metallic surface, hold mem module by its sides, if the keyboard is not coming out with ease don’t force it! Make sure the screws holding it are removed. Have fun! Here is a link… www.crucial.com

…(follow) …once taken out (the 2 screws next to the battery connector under the tape) …you also hafta take out the 2 screws on either side of the computer (6 in all) and the keyboard is loose …the ribbon connector is short so you hafta work around and under it to get the memory out and in as per the excellent video here …it took less than 5 minutes and the expertise of a dead horse to do it …you, too, can do this easily & memory card is recognized instantly (computer/properties) !!
ok …here’s the update and the NEWS IS GOOD FOR my VPCM12M1E Vaio Netbook …I did find an expert and he told me to get out some loupes and look more carefully exactly to the left and right of the BATTERY CONNECTOR prongs and sure enough there is some black electrical tape (must be to prevent arcing) which is so well applied it is almost invisible …well, at least to me. Anyhow, under these 2 pieces of tape (about 1/2″ square, 1cm square) there are 2 screws and once taken out … (to follow)
@pattapoof – Hello, this is exactly the problem thaa I have with my new netbook. And I ‘m curious to find somebody who is an expert to tell us how it can be done. I’m optimitic, since this is a great medium to get things done
I have model VPCM12M1E and it looks exactly like the one you show in the video. However, there are NO SCREWS under the battery. I assure you there are none …and when I try to pull up the keyboard along the top edge it won’t budge to the center. On the bottom I removed all of the screws there are (6 in all) but none of them were in the battery compartment and none near the battery connector. What to do?
Im having trouble changing the background! Please help!?
@nokia6500slide Yup :/
@nokia6500slide Yes.
2084mb is max memory this notebook will take. so yea a 2GB RAM card is the max you can get out of it and you cant change the grafiics card due to it’s shear size. however you can overclock the atom prosseser but the max it can be overclocked to is 1.83gh/z only 0.2gh/z increase…
nice vid though
Thank you! With this vid I tuned up my W21 and it works really good! At the beginning I don’t remember that I need to force the keyboard to open it.
Just got one of these a few days ago, but it comes with Windows 7. Pretty sweet little machine and surprisingly fast! I love how quick it boots and wakes up. I can’t wait to upgrade to 2GB though to see if it speeds it up!
Thanks for the video!
Is there just one Ram-slot? :/
someone said windows 7 starter does not support more than 1gb memory…is that so?
Great job man. You saved me a lot of time. Thanks.
@AndyThePlayer99
2.5 is the total rating for my model. I don’t remember what the RAM rating was with 1GB, now it is 4.6 with 2GB. Thanks for watching!
can u tell me if the windows rating change after the upgrade?I heard that with one ram the score is 2.5….
I don’t think you need more than 2gb. Not sure if the system will recognize more than that.
@albertbusinos 2GB
